Francis Donnelly, Avista, Dublin has just been announced as Irish Ambassador for the MATCODE Erasmus + project in collaboration with Special Olympics Ireland.
Participation in sports and exercise is significantly low among people with intellectual and multiple disabilities.
Francis and Carmen recently welcomed a delegation from Europe to Avista to help identify ways supported individuals can take part in sporting activities. They met with delegates to develop outcomes that will shape a new training and education programme to support athletes in the Motor Activities Training Programme going forward.
