The digital life story project promotes the creation of life story in a multimedia platform that includes photos, text, video clips and personalised music for persons at risk of developing dementia, as well as those living with a diagnosis of dementia.
We heard from Professor Mary McCarron from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing – TILDA, about the importance of supporting individuals at risk of developing dementia through everyday activities and the impact of national and international research on future proofing dementia services for people living with intellectual disabilities nationwide.
We also had the opportunity to listen to a number of supported individuals and staff who have started capturing vital moments of their lives, through their iPad, with the support of teams across our services in North Tipperary and Limerick.
We are very grateful for the support of Trinity College Dublin University of Limerick The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit, who have empowered 12 supported individuals to embrace technology over the last year.
This is just the beginning. 🙌🏻
